Ongoing education is key in the fight against substance use disorders and overdose deaths.
Opioid misuse continues to be a national public health emergency, as reinforced by the recent renewal of the 2017 Opioid Public Health Emergency Declaration. For more than two decades, the opioid and addiction crisis has ravaged American communities, resulting in more than 1 million overdose deaths.
One way we are addressing this crisis is through education.
The Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act mandates that all DEA-registered practitioners complete at least eight hours of training on opioid or other substance use disorders to renew their licenses. By embracing this mandate, the healthcare community can collectively work toward a future with fewer lives lost to substance use disorders.
We are proud to partner with healthcare professionals for MATE Act Training that fulfills these requirements and equips them with the tools they need to improve care and outcomes for their patients.
New to the MATE Act Training lineup are four courses from the Rx and Illicit Drug Summit:
- Implementing Trauma-Informed Care in Clinical Settings
- Xylazine Withdrawal: Managing Uncharted Territory
- Improving Adherence to medications for Opioid Use Disorder to Prevent Overdose Events
- Breaking Down Harm Reduction and Treatment Divide
And six courses from the Psych Congress national meeting:
- Introduction to Substance Use Disorders
- Neurobiology of Addiction: Focus on Biological Foundations of Addiction
- Screening, Assessment, and Diagnosis: Focus on Identification and Evaluation
- Principles of Addiction Treatment
- Pain, Special Populations, Policy, Ethical Considerations, Stigma
- Case Review: Clinical Scenarios in Substance Use Disorders
