NAEMT: 50 Years of Lifesaving Advocacy and Innovation

Over the past five decades, NAEMT has delivered measurable change across the EMS landscape. Its advocacy and programs have:

  • Established the Congressional EMS Caucus, giving EMS a powerful voice in U.S. policy
  • Secured EMS-specific federal funding and expanded funding for rural EMS and EMS for children, mental health resources, and workforce protections
  • Expanded clinical innovation, supporting initiatives like portable ultrasound, blood transfusions on scene, and mobile telehealth
  • Provided gold-standard education and leadership development to help EMTs and paramedics grow their careers

Inclusion, excellence, and progress have defined NAEMT’s first 50 years, and that mission shows no signs of slowing.
