Navigating a Year of Change
October 10, 2024

As we approach our 40th anniversary next year, it is remarkable to see how far we have come since our humble beginnings in 1985.
It has been quite some time since our last business update, and as we move into the fourth quarter of the year, it is important to reflect on our performance to date and share our outlook for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025. As we approach our 40th anniversary next year, it is remarkable to see how far we have come since 1985 and our humble beginnings as a print publisher.

Our roots stem from providing healthcare content and education for Wound Care and Cardiovascular professionals. Today, we remain leaders in these fields, but we have expanded significantly. We are now leaders in Psychiatry, Behavioral Health, Oncology, Primary Care, Gastroenterology, and Market Access, to name a few. Transformation has been a constant throughout our history, and it remains central to our strategy as we position HMP Global for long-term success.
Events: The Core of Our Business
Since transitioning in 2010 from a print publisher to an events-first organization, live events now make up over 70% of our business. Events make HMP Global unique, as no other organization has amassed the number of high-quality healthcare conferences that we have. Twelve of our events are the largest or first in their categories.

Event Transformation
When the pandemic hit, we pivoted swiftly, moving all our events online. This period of rapid change required us to build out livestreaming studios in our Malvern office, develop our own virtual platform, and successfully transition our events from in-person to virtual, with a model that proved to be successful through the lockdowns of 2020, 2021, and the transition back to in-person in 2022.
Now that our events are fully back to in-person, our results are stronger than ever. Several of our key events — Psych Congress, NEI Congress, SAWC Spring, SAWC Fall, and EMS World Expo — have all experienced record-breaking performance. Moving forward, we will continue investing in our event portfolio. We currently have four new event launches planned for 2025:
- Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma Winter Symposium: Building off of 25 years of leadership in the hematology-oncology space through our flagship LL&M Congress that takes place each fall in New York City, this new event will take place in February in Miami, Florida and be dedicated to a review of the latest research and clinical developments in hematologic malignancies. The symposium will serve as a platform for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals to share best practices in a relaxed, retreat environment.
- Drug Channels Leadership Forum: Created by Adam and Paula Fein, our first Drug Channels Leadership Forum will take place in March — also in Miami — and is an invitation-only event that will feature important conversations with top leaders, innovators, and policy makers on key topics shaping the U.S. pharmaceutical ecosystem. Participants will delve into the complexities of the pharmaceutical distribution system, healthcare policy, and market trends that influence the drug supply chain. We have many registrations confirmed already and the event is expected to sell out.
- Global Symposium on Interventional Radiation Protection: This virtual event will take place in September of 2025, and will focus on the critical issue of clinician health risks to radiation exposure. The event will be developed in conjunction with the organization for Occupational Radiation Safety in Interventional Fluoroscopy (ORSIF) which works to raise awareness of this issue and provide resources for facilities to help create the safest possible environment for healthcare professionals. Planning is underway for the agenda development and announcement.
- Psych PA Institute: Taking place in December of 2025, our new Psych PA Institute will be shaped similarly to our highly successful Psych NP Institute, and is designed to serve as an outlet for clinicians to expand their expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders, and enhance their clinical skills, through education that covers the latest treatments and guidelines in psychiatric care.
Our Acquisition Pipeline
We also continue to source potential acquisitions to expand our portfolio and expect to be able to make announcements around this in the coming months. We believe that healthcare conferences are going to remain a relevant source of education, information, and networking well into the future.

Digital Content and Ominchannel Marketing: Expanding Our Reach
Our digital business continues to undergo significant transformation, from traditional digital advertising to omnichannel content marketing through the launch of HMP Collective. Now in its third year, HMP Collective is poised for accelerated growth in 2025 as we continue to demonstrate success with our existing customers and build awareness through a strong business development and marketing effort designed to help us expand our customer base.
The evolution of our digital and content development capabilities has required our teams to develop new skills, particularly in technology and digital program execution. We have also welcomed new talent to help drive these changes, positioning us to become a world-class content marketing agency.

Growth in Market Intelligence
Our expertise in content and education makes market intelligence a natural avenue for growth. The acquisitions of HMP Market Access Insights (Proximity Health) and Drug Channels Institute are just the beginning. These businesses have exceeded our early expectations, and we are enthusiastic about their future. Drug Channels Institute, led by Adam and Paula Fein, will see significant growth in 2025 with the launch of the Drug Channels Leadership Forum and the much-anticipated January release of the DCI eLearning modules.
Our HMP Market Access Insights business has had significant developments this year, particularly with the rollout of several key syndicated research reports. This includes the 2024 IDN Oncology Annual Trend Report, released in May, which provides an in-depth analysis of Integrated Delivery Networks and their evolving role in oncology care; the Community Oncology Report, released in June, and the Payer Oncology Annual Trend Report, released in August. Additionally, the team is preparing for the release of the 2024 Clinical Pathways Report, which will offer comprehensive insights into the latest developments in oncology clinical pathways and their impact on treatment protocols and healthcare decision-making.
These reports are part of a broader effort to deliver actionable intelligence to healthcare stakeholders, allowing for more informed decisions that enhance patient outcomes and drive cost efficiencies. The team is also engaged in a rebrand to better reflect their value of being at the forefront of identifying emerging trends in market access and value-based care and solidifying our position as a trusted resource in the healthcare landscape.
Additional acquisitions to further enhance this business unit are also part of our strategy.

Data Enrichment: Key to Future Growth and Opportunities
Data has become a critical element of our business. As healthcare professionals seek more personalized and relevant content, and our clients demand more targeted communication strategies, we are well-positioned to leverage the behavioral data that we create and collect through the high quality and high volume of content that our healthcare professionals engage with at HMP Global.
Our editorial, marketing, and data teams have been hard at work tagging, gating, and tracking user behavior, and we are beginning to utilize this data to enhance precision marketing, boost engagement, and develop valuable new data products. While still in the initial stages of monetization, our efforts are gaining momentum, and we anticipate significant progress in 2025.

Harnessing AI for Future Success
Looking ahead, we are also engaged in discussions around how AI can improve the way we work and are developing an AI policy for the company. The policy will provide guidance on how to responsibly and effectively use AI tools to enhance our productivity and performance. We are researching some of the best AI tools available to streamline our workflows, allowing us to deliver even higher quality outcomes across the business. From content generation to enhanced marketing, to data analysis, the future of AI holds great promise, and we are excited to leverage this technology to continue driving innovation at HMP Global.
Facing Economic Headwinds Together
Like many businesses, we have faced challenges due to economic headwinds in the U.S.—including supply chain disruptions, inflation, and high interest rates. While these macroeconomic factors have had an impact on our growth, we remain confident that our course will allow HMP Global to succeed well into the future. Change has never been easy, and at times we have had to make tough decisions along the way to reorganize our teams, learn new skills and introduce new technologies and automation into our business to remain current, but these are necessary steps to maintain our leadership position in a dynamic marketplace.
The Importance of In-Person Collaboration
The HMP Global team is stronger when we’re together. Connecting in person is at the heart of what we do, and it’s critical to our company’s ability to operate successfully. As part of our commitment to being together, we’re reinforcing our two days per week in-office work policy beginning the week of October 21. Please check the full communication from Anthony which includes details on our in-office days and guidance for remote team members. Let’s continue to capitalize on the collaboration and connectivity that occurs when we're together.

The Journey Ahead
As we continue this journey of transformation, I want to thank each of you for your dedication to our mission and to each other. As always, I encourage your questions and feedback. If you have any thoughts or inquiries about the company or our initiatives, please don't hesitate to reach out to me through our Officevibe feedback form at the end of our pulse surveys.
Our long-term success is built on three pillars: a mission that withstands the test of time, an unwavering commitment to change, and a passion that provides the endurance to get us through the most difficult of times.

Thank you for being part of HMP Global’s journey. Here is to the next 40 years of success.
Sincerely,
